Who's in our community: Cohort 3 applicant demographics

Lunar Startups received a record number of applicants for Cohort 3! 90 high-potential entrepreneurs are ready to grow their business faster in St. Paul, Minnesota – that's nearly double the amount of applicants to Cohorts 1 and 2. We're proud and excited to be part of a community that's stepping up to solve problems, and taking their shot at becoming the next MN Millionaire.

When we evaluate our success as a program, applicant demographics are a key piece of data. We do this for our vendors, Lunar Expert Network members, and other people we work with. When we say we support women, people of color and other high potential entrepreneurs, we want to put our money where our mouth is. Accountability matters.

Here are the demographics of the Lunar Startups Cohort 3 applicants: 

90 applicants

74% POCI (people of color and indigenous) founders

54% women founders

35% POCI + women founders

12% LGBT founders

7 applicants live outside Minnesota, and 8 applicants live outside the US. 5 of those applicants said they would independently finance a move to Minnesota if accepted.
